Widget Update

Okay, so I was one of the first on the block with a blog, even though I had to write all the code by hand. But, ever since I've been playing catch up with the great stuff that's been built for bloggers like me.

They make all these neat plug-ins nowadays, which I've been putting over here. --->

First up, is the google advertisement system. If you click a link, I get like a penny or so. When I get up to $100, I can cash it in. Maybe by the time my kid is eighteen, I'll be able to buy him something off of the Wendy's $100 value meal, like a Junior Bacon Cheeseburger.

Second is Twitter. Twitter is the quick post window, second one down. My twitter is updateable via my Treo. Plan on seeing updates regarding the status of new baby via that, as I'll have my phone with me at the hospital, and it will be a great way to make sure that anyone who wants to know the latest, will know the latest.

Third up is new. It's called last.fm and it tracks all the songs I listen to on iTunes, displaying the last five songs. Some of the songs might be random from the radio station it plays from, but some are out of my extensive music catalog. I think it's kind of neat!

Angry fellow

I forgot to post this last week. Last week I'm working out at the gym and I ran into the guy I'm going to call "Anger Man". You know, there are all sorts at the gym, but most people kind of keep to themselves and are friendly and polite. This guy stuck right out to me.

First off, I spend a lot of time on the elliptical. There are TV's in front of them, but I normally ignore them and listen to music . So this guy comes in and starts punching buttons on the TV (pressing really really hard - as if the TV might change channels faster, the harder he pressed) to find what he likes, and goes immediately to the treadmill and pounds away. (Yeah - treadmill people are more intense, but jeez...) He does his "power workout" or whatever, and then leaves.

I catch up with him in the locker room, and yes, it turns out he's one of those parader types. Some guys sneak in and out really fast or go home to take their showers. It's more efficient for me to get mine at the gym, so I do that. But this guy is the flaunter type. He spent nearly the entire time in the locker room totally naked. What a dope.

The coup de grace for me, was that he also felt inclined to complain (loudly, of course) to this poor guy who apparently knows him, about how unruly and annoying his kids are. The listening guy left, probably as quickly as he could, and I left soon after, apparently leaving this guy to shave in naked contemplative silence. I'd say he was probably happy to have the entire locker room, if not gym, to himself, except he probably did not even notice the difference, oblivious to the world that must oppress him so.

Perhaps it's ironic that I vent about someone who clearly thinks he's the belly button of the universe on a blog with my name for the title, that I write as if everyone I know reads, but in fact very few people read.

One false contraction...

puts stuff into perspective. Everything's cool and calm again, but we're packing that go bag and making sure we're ready for when this baby decides to come. Last count we still had 5 weeks to go.

Half an hour

That's how long it took before the old freezer and dishwasher we put out to the curb were being picked over by the local denizens of our fair city. I was surprised that they didn't take either of them!

Fuming at work

I don't normally post about work. In fact, this isn't really a post about work. I went home early yesterday, worked a bit from home, and worked a lot out and about away from my office. Here's why:

This was actually at the front door of our building when I walked in. (A door that only 1/3 of the employees actually walk through.) By afternoon, they had moved it to the side hallways, which were "sealed" off with plastic sheeting to protect us. (Seen above...) An hour later, the operation was shut down by the person in charge of this sort of thing, after he did a quick inspection. (This was after people were complaining of headaches, sore throats, and stomachaches.)

I ended up spending about 3 hours actually in the building yesterday, then went home early because someone opened the door next to my office, opening a completely unventilated office that had not been open all day, sending a bunch of fumes into my office. Yum. Hope it's better today!
