It's been two years since we moved to our house here, and I think about how much has changed. I always like fall - life is crisp and both the pretense and hope of summer falls down around me like before the first flakes of winter, while all I do is wax painfully unpoetically - the artist in me is much better in my mind than he is in real life. :) Fall always seems like it's the hardest season though - almost every year I feel like I've been through the ringer.
Work is changing, for better? Maybe...
Of course, this little guy is changing my life one day at a time...
And I'll leave you with a little fall song to color your mood appropriately with mine... New Pornographers (out of Vancouver) and Challengers
Just caught this article on Slate, and I totally agree with this idea for the NHL. It would make the NHL unique, but I used to be drawn to the NHL because of the whole Patrick, Smythe, Norris, Adams division thing. NHL was quirky, and in this day and age of televised sport homogeny, this article's suggestion would rock.
So I attended my sister's wedding down in Richmond, and for those of you who know me well, you understand the great expression of affection it is towards my sister that I did not open my trap and give a speech that I'm sure would have mortified her, Charles, and the rest of the "flock". The following is meant as no disrespect to Virginia or Charles, who I think make a fine pair and have a great future ahead of them, despite the surrounding hokum of a Southern Baptist ceremony that flies in the face of everything I hold to be true and good. I am pained to realize that this probably will be taken as disrespect, but all I can hope for is the understanding of the difference of letting it out here, versus letting it out at the ceremony itself and making a scene.
Buffy Sainte-Marie sums up my feeling about those who buy into all that. The recorded track is a little sharper sounding than this. I hope this video stays up for a while, however I strongly encourage purchasing her music, particularly this song. Lyrics after...

It's been a very busy couple of weeks... Just wanted to let everyone know that I won't be posting baby details here because it's just too public. Drop me a line and I'll make sure to fill you in. When the little guy is ready, he can go out here on the wild and wooly web all of his own volition.
