Goodbye Blockbuster
I tried to cancel my Blockbuster Online account today - they sent us a sneaky email telling us they were raising their rates over the holidays when we wouldn't notice. I felt like responding with their own words, but their "reasons for cancelling" screen limited me to 255 characters or less.... Way to illustrate my reason for cancelling!
So here is posted my reason for cancelling for Blockbuster (and everyone else to read!)
If it hadn't been for the snarky, sneaky email right around the holidays or even if you had been more honest in describing the reasons for increasing, there was honestly a very good chance we would have stayed. I read the business section, and I wish you much luck in providing an alternative to NetFlix.
And my ways for Blockbuster to improve:
As a BLOCKBUSTER Total Access provider, it was always easy for you to change the terms of my plan including eliminating the free monthly coupon without notice and changing monthly rates when it is least likely to be noticed by subscribers.
I know that during this busy time of year the convenience of having subscribers with BLOCKBUSTER Total Access isn't especially important to you. So I am sending this cancellation right to your door. If I want new movies right away, I'm better off with the faster shipping provided by Netflix. And with free shipping both ways and no late fees, it's easy to enjoy all the movies I want for as long as I want.
Since the unmatched convenience of both online and in-store DVD rentals wasn't all that important to me, my subscription will change from Blockbuster to Netflix, who we really liked better all along. This adjustmentâ will go into effect immediately. The benefits to your subscriber base will reflect my cancellation.
Congratulations! You are free from the burden of having me as a customer. You drove a couple of our local video stores right out of business in the 90's... How does it feel with the boot on the other foot?
